GSARA Participation Requirements

All Students:

  • Minimum 14 years of age (by start of event)

  • Cadets: Encampment Graduate by start of activity.

  • General Emergency Services (GES) qualification (CAPT 116)

  • Current CAP membership card on your person

  • All items on Packing List

  • All members 18 and OLDER on 20 JULY 2025 must complete the Cadet Protection Basic Course before the Academy.

  • Approval of unit commander to attend (see CAPF 60-81)

  • Forms

Specific Course Requirements:

Basic Students

  • CAPF-101 with GES rating and trainee status for both GTM3 and UDF or better (Click the link to visit the Wing website's "How to get your 101 card" page)

  • SQTR for GTM3 with “GTM3 - Commander Approval for Prerequisites” shown as ACTIVE

  • IS-100, IS-700, ICUT, Basic 1st Aid or Equivalent, CAPT 117 Part 1

  • Cadets: Physical Fitness Category 1 - unrestricted (in accordance with CAPP 60-50)

Advanced Students

  • CAPF-101 with GTM3 rating and trainee status or better for UDF 

  • Current qualification of (at least) GTM3 and ability to demonstrate knowledge.
    (GTM3 may be expired but in a Trainee status.)

  • Graduation of GSARA Basic or equivalent 8-day course (Hawk Mountain, Desert Scorpion, Lone Star Academy, etc...)

  • First Aid current from a nationally recognized organization

  • Cadets: Physical Fitness Category 1 - unrestricted (in accordance with CAPP 60-50)

Advanced Students

  • CAPF-101 with GTM3 rating and trainee status or better for UDF 

  • Current qualification of (at least) GTM3 and ability to demonstrate knowledge.
    (GTM3 may be expired but in a Trainee status.)

  • Graduation of GSARA Basic or equivalent seven-day course (Hawk Mountain, Desert Scorpion, Lone Star Academy, etc...)

  • First Aid current from a nationally recognized organization

  • Cadets: Physical Fitness Category 1 - unrestricted (in accordance with CAPP 60-50)
